A WOMAN was threatened with a Samurai sword and a hammer when three men raided a newsagents last night.

The armed robbers targeted the Seasons Express store on Darlington’s Geneva Road shortly before 7pm on Wednesday, December 6.

They threatened a woman working in the shop before fleeing with the contents of the till and cigarettes.

The woman, and a customer who was in the shop at the time, were left shaken but not injured.

The three men fled in the direction of Harris Street, towards the Eastbourne Park area.

Detective Sergeant John Hoar, from Darlington CID, said: “This was a frightening ordeal for those involved.

“Thankfully the female member of staff and a customer who was in the shop at the time were not injured.

“However, they have understandably been left shaken by the incident.

“We’d encourage anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw the men before or afterwards to contact us.”
