A 26-YEAR-old man was rescued from a popular beauty spot after falling and injuring his legs.

Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team rescued the man from Roseberry Topping, near Great Ayton, on Tuesday.

He was helped at the scene by passing walkers, one of whom carried him 100 metres to the shelter of the shooting house near the top of Roseberry.

Two Landrover ambulances were sent to Aireyholme Farm, on the edge of Roseberry, where they met paramedics from the ambulance service.

They drove to the shooting house where the man was treated at the scene, in cold and wet conditions, before being carried in one of the Landrover ambulances a kilometre to the farm and the waiting ambulance.

Ten members responded to the callout which lasted just over an hour.

Pete Mounsey, team spokesman, said: “This was a straight forward incident for the team who have dealt with many leg injuries and many incidents on Rosebery Topping this year.

“The incident was complicated by the poor weather with wet and cold wintery conditions.”
