FOLK musicians from across the North-East will perform a gig in aid of refugees this weekend.

On Friday, the Gala Folk Concert will play host to acts including The Wilson Family, Ribbon Road, George Welch and Christine Jeans, Hambones and Barry and Ingrid Temple.

Organisers including David and Janet Walker are staging the concert in a bid to raise funds for Darlington Assistance for Refugees.

DAR was founded in 2015 by a group of volunteers devoted to helping those affected by the global refugee crisis.

Since it was established, the charity has offered a range of practical support to refugees settling in Darlington, including a number of families who have fled the war in Syria.

The concert marks the latest in a line of fundraising events staged by members of the community in support of DAR. It will be held at The Travellers Rest pub in Cockerton, with all proceeds going to DAR. Doors open at 7.30pm with the concert set to begin at 8pm.

Tickets are £10 and can be booked by calling 01325 244417.
