POLICE investigating the death of a teenage motorbiker have appealed for help to trace a man seen in the area at the time.

Sonny Stephenson, 17, was fatally injured in a crash in Bolckow Street, Guisborough, east Cleveland, in August.

Police now wish to identify a man who was seen walking on Ash Road and Park Lane, close to the Park House care home in Guisborough, between 9.10pm and 9.35pm on Sunday August 27.

The man, who was captured on CCTV minutes before the incident, was wearing blue jeans, a beige or light grey long sleeved jacket, a black baseball cap and he was carrying a black rucksack.

Officers in the case also want to trace a man and a woman who were walking along the alleyway between Uppergarth Gardens and Bolckow Street in Guisborough at 9.15pm that same day.

They are known to have been in general conversation about having suffered vehicle crime and appeared to briefly a mention a quad bike.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland and North Yorkshire Police’s major incident team said: "These members of the public could be key witnesses to the events which led to the death of Sonny and police are keen to trace them and speak to them.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number.

:: Matthew Buckworth, of Charlton’s Garth, Guisborough, has already appeared at Teesside Crown Court charged with Mr Stephenson’s murder.

The 34-year-old, who has yet to enter a plea, could face trial in May next year.
