Thirsk is preparing to receive around 200 bikers, many wearing fancy dress, who will deliver toys for local children with disabilities.

The Toy Run, organised by Squires Bikers Café in Sherburn near Elmet each year, has chosen to support local charities Thirsk Community Care, The Clock and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Hundreds of bikers and their passengers are expected to arrive in Thirsk Market Place on Sunday 26th November at around 12.30pm to deliver the toys. Awaiting them will be a stage hosted by YO1 Radio’s Chris Marsden and Dougie Weake, with live music and funfair rides.

Calverts Carperts are sponsoring the event, which is expected to boost the number of visitors to the town at a weekend already busy with the Christmas Lights Switch On and Christmas Fayre. James Calvert commented: “This is going to be a spectacle you won’t want to miss. We are happy to show our support for the Squires Toy Run and the great work they do for our local charities.”

This year will be the 20th Toy Run that Squires have organised. The event goes ahead whatever the weather, and has enjoyed a record of over 420 bikes at one.

Entertainment will be provided by local acts The Drivers, The Bootleggers and Sam & Ryan.
