TEACHERS were quick to give sixth-formers a leg up as they organised events for Children in Need.

Seven staff at Northallerton School and Sixth Form College took to the stage for a hair-raising fundraiser involving wax strips and luxuriant legs.

The whole school turned out and donated to see the teachers suffer for the good cause. The brave souls included Andrew Johnson, Mike Cadell, Nick Watkins, Rob Murphy, Stuart Wright, Daniel Borwell and Matt Tucker.

Sports teacher Mr Wright said: “I was surprised by the lack of pain involved in the leg waxing. I’m not sure why ladies complain about it.

"Mind you, I’m not sure about the look. I wear shorts all day and there is no hiding the bald patch.”

Student leadership team member Hattie Pepper said: “We thought it would be really funny watching the teachers have a leg wax – and it was. The hall was packed and students found the event hilarious.”

The sponsored leg wax was one of a series of events staged by sixth formers including a marathon video gaming session.

Donations are still pouring in and the sixth formers are hoping to raise several hundred pounds for the BBC charity.
