AN elderly cyclist who suffered serious injuries in a collision with a car last month has now died.

John Percy Williams, an 80-year-old from York, was hurt on October 10 while cycling along Green Dykes Lane in the city.

It is believed his bicycle collided with the rear of a BMW 1 Series, which was stationary in traffic waiting for the traffic lights to change.

It happened on the approach to the traffic light junction with Hull Road and Lawrence Street, at around 7.04pm and the scene was closed to traffic until 11.30pm while the collision investigation took place.
