A MOTHER who lost her son to kidney disease is staging a fundraising evening to help others with renal conditions.
Kendra King, from Northallerton is raising funds for Ward Four and the Renal Day Unit at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, which provides treatment for people with kidney disorders from Teesside, County Durham and North Yorkshire.
It is four years since Kendra lost her son Ashley King to kidney disease, when he was aged 26, and since then she has staged numerous fundraising ventures for Kidney Research UK.
This year she decided to raise funds for the wards where Ashley received kidney dialysis and other care. The money she raises will be used to provide equipment that will benefit patients and staff.
The fundraising night takes place at Northallerton Working Men’s Club on Elder Road from 7pm on December 1, when there will be a raffle and music.
A large number of prizes have been donated by local businesses, including a television and vouchers from food emporium Lewis & Cooper.
