AMERICAN roots and folk artists will bring their sounds from across the pond to an historic County Durham venue this month.

The Manor House, in Sedgefield, will welcome guitar, banjo, fiddle-playing and singing duo Dana and Susan Robinson all the way from Vermont.

The toe-tapping performance will take place in the Grade-II listed, 18th century building's Old Court Room on Friday, November 17.

Marie Walker, events manager for Manor House 1707, said: “This promises to be another memorable evening of music in atmospheric and intimate surroundings.

"Dana and Susan Robinson have built excellent reputations for their elegant melodies and rich harmony singing, so it’s a coup for the Manor House to attract them here all the way from New England during their latest tour."

Best known for their unique blend of contemporary song-writing and traditional Appalachian music, the pair's last two CDs, American Hornpipe and Big Mystery, went to number one and number three respectively on the Folk DJ charts - with two top ten singles.

Joining Dana and Susan for what is the Manor House’s final gig of 2017 are Sedgefield's own modern country music outfit, The Milliners.
