A DARLINGTON pub will close next week to allow for a six-figure refurbishment.

Five new jobs will be created as a result of the upcoming revamp of the Shuttle & Loom pub.

The pub, on Whinfield Road, will close on Monday, November 13, when work will begin on improvements in several areas.

When it reopens on Sunday, November 26, it will feature a more modern bar area, an enhanced sports viewing area with multiple screens and better sound and an extended beer garden with more seating and outdoor lighting.

General manager Gareth Bray said: “The Shuttle & Loom is at the heart of the local community, so we want to provide our guests with even better surroundings to enjoy great food, drink and sporting events.

“We’re really excited to get the refurbishment underway, and look forward to welcoming our Darlington neighbours to the revamped venue.”

The new look pub will also offer an updated drinks menu, with more cask ales being introduced to the bar.
