A WOMAN diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia is backing plans for a new way of supporting local cancer patients and carers.

Allison White, 40, is calling on residents to share their views about Macmillan Joining the Dots County Durham.

A partnership between Durham County Council and Macmillan Cancer Support, it aims to ensure people get the help they need around income, housing, lifestyle and emotional support.

Proposals would see the development of a hub for people affected by cancer to be referred to, which will be accessible via one phone number, email address and webpage.

Miss White, of Newton Aycliffe, said: “It’s vital people make sure they have their voice heard, as this will help so many in the future.

Plans are out for public consultation, ending on Friday.
