JOHN Petter, chief operating officer at BT Retail, states "there have been some misunderstandings" over BT charges (HAS, July 18).
The "misunderstandings" are down to BT, not us. He has failed to mention the £4.50 so-called processing fee for customers not paying by Direct Debit.
As a direct result of correspondence in HAS, many people have deducted the £4.50 before paying their telephone account, and rightly so.
Yet, in his letter to avoid any "misunderstanding", Mr Petter never mentions the £4.50 sneaked onto their bills sent out to unsuspecting customers. I wonder how many paid the extra "fine" of £4.50 without noticing this additional charge?
