A HAULIER company which delivers across the North-East and further afield has pledged its support to the Poppy Appeal by covering one of its fleet in the red flowers of remembrance.
Distribution service YDL, based across offices in Newton Aycliffe and York, has dedicated a new truck to the annual charity appeal and has fitted plastic poppies to the front grills of all its vehicles.
Managing director Paul McLaren said: “We are proud to be supporting the memory of the fallen this Remembrance Day.
“When the British Legion approached us for our support we were more than proud to honour such a worthy cause.
“With a new vehicle on order, it felt like a fitting dedication to display the iconic poppy in remembrance of those who gave their lives.”
The company which transports parcels, pallets, shipments and haulage around the region - and sometimes to the south and towards Scotland - has also made a donation to the Poppy Appeal.
Speaking of the new tractor unit’s delivery to the company’s Barton Hill depot, in York, last week, Mr McLaren added: “It was apparent that every single member of our team felt proud to be associated to a cause that means so much to so many people.
“We also look forward to being in attendance at the Poppy Appeal Dinner in November.”
