A CHURCH'S fundraising campaign has been boosted by £400 after they hosted a sell-out talk by Auckland Castle trustee, Jane Ruffer.

Mrs Ruffer shared her experiences of the Auckland Castle Project and Kynren, with her husband Jonathan Ruffer at St Andrew's CofE Church, in Bolam, Teesdale, last week.

Kathy Pagella, spokeswoman for organisers, the Friends of St Andrew's Church, said the evening was a great success and sold out weeks beforehand.

She said: "The presentation given by Jane gave an excellent overview of the Ruffer's lives up to their arrival at Auckland Castle and the concept of Kynren.

"She told how Jonathan established Auckland Castle Trust in 2012 - now known as the Auckland Project - with an ambitious vision: to transform the 900-year old Bishop's Palace from an unknown private dwelling into a world-class art, faith and heritage destination of international significance."

The Friends' next fundraiser will be a carol concert on Saturday, December 16, at 7pm where Ferryhill Brass Band will be performing. All are welcome.
