THE Buck Hotel in Reeth was a hotbed of 1940s glamour during a fundraising evening for Rug Aid.

Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner, dancing and live music and were encouraged to dress to impress in the 1940s style.

The event made £400 for Rug Aid, a community interest company founded by Reeth resident Heather Ritchie.

Ms Ritchie, who has made a career out of making rugs, travels to the Gambia each year to pass on her skills to blind people so that they can make and sell their own rugs to earn some money.

She said that although the fundraiser was not as well attended as she would like due to other events in the village that night, everybody who went along still had a great time.

“It was a fun night,” said Mrs Ritchie.

“I’d really like to thank Roy and Julie from the Buck for all their support; they were fabulous.”

A raffle on the night offered a first prize of a pamper night in the executive suite of the Buck Hotel and Mrs Ritchie said she was grateful for the contribution and to all who went along.

She added she wanted to thank Kathy Bryon and all who helped stage the event.
