THERE was a very interesting picture of a Land Rover (Echo, Oct 17), totally crushed into a five foot block with five police officers standing over it.
The Land Rover’s owner had driven the vehicle into a field at Topcliffe, near Thirsk and it got bogged down to its axles.
A Northallerton court fined the owner from Horden £1,000 and disqualified him from driving for six months plus his Land Rover was totally crushed.
I am sure fines and punishments like this would stop fly tipping almost overnight. Fly-tippers always use their vehicle to do their dirty deeds be it the family car or a van or truck.
It could put an end to their livelihood and would certainly make these pariahs of society think twice about fly tipping.
