A BIKER was left with serious injuries following a crash with a car on Sunday afternoon.

He was travelling north on the A68 near Houghton Bank, Heighington at around 2pm when the collision happened.

The motorcyclist, who was riding a Kawasaki ZX1000, was taken to Middlesbrough’s James Cook University Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

The occupants of the car – a Mazda 3, which was travelling south at the time – were reportedly uninjured as a result of the crash.

The road was closed for around two hours following the incident.

Police are keen to trace anyone who saw the collision or either vehicle prior to the crash.

They would also like to speak to anyone who may have spotted a BMW 335D, which was also travelling north at the time of the collision.
