FIRE crews from across North Yorkshire were called to deal with a large fire that spread across agricultural buildings last night.
Crews from Malton, York, Acomb and a water bowser from Tadcaster were needed to tackle the blaze which broke out in Acklam, Malton, at around 7.15pm.
A fire service spokesman said the fire originated from a bonfire which then accidentally spread to nearby farm buildings due to the high winds caused by Storm Ophelia.
Crews were again called out to Malton in the early hours of the morning to remove a sign on Commercial Street that was hanging dangerously over a footpath due to the high winds.
A fire crew was also called to Hunters Way, near Knavesmire, in York, after a tree came down and broke through a property window.
