A KIND-HEARTED boy who suffers from both asthma and hypermobility has been thanked for walking his socks off for charity.

Eight-year-old Alex Miller, of Spennymoor, suffers from the condition that causes pain in his joints while he also uses two types of inhaler to control his asthma.

But it did not stop the King Street Primary School pupil from taking on a walking challenge for CLIC Sargent, the cancer charity for children, young people and their families.

The youngster, who is mad about all things Avengers, dressed up for the fundraiser and was joined by family and friends as he made his way from Spennymoor to Bishop Auckland’s Morrisons store, in August.

Alex has raised £700 and both Farmfoods and Morrisons have agreed to match fund his total.

Alex said: “I am really happy we raised the money; I thought I would only raise about £10.”

His mum, Sarah Miller, 27, added: “I’m really proud. He’s always had an interest in helping people but I did not think he would do this well.”
