A COMMUNITY project has been shortlisted for a national award.

Shadforth Community Association, which has been working in the village for more than 65 years, is in the running for the community group of the year prize at the national Groundwork Community Awards.

The association, which formed to build the village hall in the 1950s, still runs the facility, providing events from Burns Night and St George’s Day celebrations to wine tasting, village shows and Christmas parties.

Chairwoman Sue Pringle said: “We are both delighted and proud to be nominated as a finalist in the groundwork awards .

“We continue to strive to help all ages in our community Shadforth, to improve their quality of life and enable all ages to integrate in activities to promote both physical and mental health.”
