EMERGENCY services are responding to a multi-vehicle crash involving a car that has lost a wheel.
Police and ambulance crews are at the scene of the incident in the Red Hall area of Darlington, near Lingfield Point on the B6279 bypass route connecting the A66 to McMullen Road.
Up to four vehicles are stationary at the scene, including a Vauxhall Mokka - the front wheel of which is some way down the road.
Witnesses reported seeing the incident shortly after rush hour at around 9.30am on Thursday morning.
The occupants of the Mokka were still in the car as the ambulance arrived.
Two lanes of the westbound carriageway have been closed at the site of the crash at a set of traffic lights leading to the site of the former Patons and Baldwins wool factory.
