AN AWARD-winning author and lecturer will appear at a special event at Darlington Library later this month.

Emma Henderson, whose first novel, Grace Williams says it loud, won a string of literary prizes, will be at Crown Street Library on Friday, October 20, to talk about her latest book “The Valentine House”.

She worked for Penguin Books for two years before teaching English in comprehensive schools and further education colleges for ten years.

Ms Henderson then moved to the French Alps, where she ran a ski and snowboard lodge for six years. She now lives in Derbyshire and is a lecturer in English and Creative Writing at Keele University.

The Valentine House is her second novel and tells the story of an English family through the generations and a memorable French woman whose lives are inextricably linked.

The Emma Henderson Author event will be at Darlington’s Crown Street Library on Friday 20 October, from 11am. Admission is free but places must be booked in advance. Call 01325-462034.
