A MUSEUM is set to come to life with all things spooky this half term.

The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, is preparing to host fun and educational events with everything from spider-themed crafts to storytelling from October 23 to 28.

Highlights include a Halloween crafts event on October 25 and 26 while the week will wind down with the Clockwork Garden fun day on October 28.

Children can also plant a tulip in the museum grounds, as well as creating a watercolour painting to take home in the Planting Tulips event on 27 October, which is inspired by its current Turkish Tulips exhibtion.

All events are free and included in the admission charge to the museum.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, for whom normal museum admission applies.

The museum is open daily from 10am. For a full programme of events and exhibitions visit thebowesmuseum.org.uk or call 01833-690606.
