A MOTHER and toddler escaped injury when their car overturned in a freak accident in Darlington this afternoon.
The blue Fiat rolled over on to its roof on West Auckland Road just before 3pm on Thursday.
Paramedics and fire crews were called to the scene but the mother and 18-month old boy managed to get out of the car with no injuries.
A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said the car had overturned for "an unknown reason".
The road was closed as it was blocked by the overturned car, which was recovered at about 4.20pm.
- Another accident took place nearby on Auckland Oval shortly afterwards.
Police were called at about 3.20pm to reports of a two vehicle collision involving a silver Skoda Yeti and a white Ford Focus.
The male occupants of the Focus, which collided with the back of the Yeti, fled the scene.
