THIEVES have stolen a number of budgies from the home of an enthusiast.
Police in Stanley, County Durham, are appealing to anyone who may have information about the theft of a number of budgies from Hartside Cottages, Tanfield, Stanley, overnight on Thursday, September 7, to contact them.
"Those responsible have stolen a number of adult budgies leaving the babies who have not survived," said a police spokesman.
"The colours ranged from yellow, green and white. Anyone who may have been offered the birds or knows anything about this should contact 101 and speak to PC Shaw at Stanley Police quoting CRI00077399"
