TICKETS have gone on sale for a firework spectacular returning to Darlington later this year following a six-year absence.

The Northern Echo Arena will play host to the huge display on Sunday, November 5, with guests invited to watch the show from the comfort of seats inside the venue.

The Aldi Darlington Fireworks Spectacular will be the first display in the town since 2011, marking a welcome return to the area.

A limited number of tickets have gone on this this week for the event that starts at 5pm and is also expected to feature entertainment from live bands and fire eaters.

Principle event sponsors Aldi are helping to deliver the event, which will be the first of its kind at the Arena.

An Aldi spokesman said: “We’re pleased to be supporting Mowden Park Rugby Club with the fireworks display, and hope the community enjoys the event.”

Previous events, which were regularly held in the town's South Park, attracted up to 50,000 visitors for an annual Bonfire Night celebration.

However in 2010, Darlington Borough Council pulled the plug on the £100,000 event due to budget cuts.

A spokesman for Darlington-based Vasstech Garage Services, a business also supporting the event, added: "As a local business we are delighted to be involved in bringing what will be a terrific event to Darlington."

Tickets for the event are priced at £8 for adults and £4 for under 16s.

Family passes for two adults and two children are also available for £20.

The tickets can be purchased from the Arena or the Dolphin Centre, alternatively, call 01325-350267.
