A MAN who was found dead on a residential street died as a result of misadventure a coroner has concluded.
Tony Alderson was discovered on Flanders Way in Crook shortly before 7am on Sunday, March 5. Durham Police cordoned off the street following the incident to allow forensic officers to examine the scene, and officers carried out door-to-door enquiries. But, following a post-mortem, the death was no longer treated as suspicious.
At an inquest at Crook Civic Centre yesterday, coroner Crispin Oliver confirmed Mr Alderson died of the effects of taking methadone and diazepam and returned a conclusion of death by misadventure.
Detective Sergeant Grant Cockerill said an investigation into the supply of drugs was ongoing.
