A MAN in his forties has suffered serious head injuries after falling down a full flight of stairs in Shildon.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called out to the incident at 10.40am yesterday morning.
The charity’s paramedic and doctor team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service to stabilise the injured man before airlifting him to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
A GNAAS spokesperson confirmed the man had suffered a serious head injury and his condition on arrival at hospital was described as stable.
The helicopter journey from Shildon to Newcastle took nine minutes.
