APPEAL: Police want information after a letterbox was damaged by fire
A VULNERABLE person was left scared after someone sprayed an aerosol through their letter box and set it alight.
The occupant of a house in Main Street, Witton Park, was uninjured but shaken by this incident earlier this week.
Coloured paint was sprayed from a can through the letter box and ignited, causing the bristles of the letter box to catch fire.
Nobody was hurt but Sergeant Clare Hargreaves, of Bishop Auckland CID, said: "It was a ridiculous thing to do and quite a scary experience for the occupant who was at home, we're appealing for anyone with information to ring 101."
