A MAN was taken to hospital after he was stabbed in the stomach at a luxury hotel in the North-East.

The 27-year-old was injured during an early morning disturbance at Slaley Hall Hotel, between Consett and Hexham, in Northumberland.

Emergency services were called to the four star golf resort’s staff accommodation block at around 3am on Tuesday.

A 30-year-old, who suffered injuries to his hand and face, has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released under investigation.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “An altercation between two men took place in the staff accommodation block.

“Emergency services attended and one man was found to have injuries to his face and hand.

“A second man was taken to the RVI with a knife wound to the stomach.

“He is said to be in a stable but non-life threatening condition. One man age 30 was arrested for assault and later released under investigation.

“Enquiries are continuing.”

The resort is part of a chain owned by QHotels.

A spokesman for the company said: “The safety of our guests and employees is paramount and we are continuing to support the police in their ongoing enquiries. An investigation is currently underway.”
