Festival of Thrift, in Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar, on Saturday/Sunday

A big free weekend of activities designed for all the family. Showing you how to save money, be environmentally savvy and live a rich and creative life.

Leading and emerging artists, demonstrations, stalls, talks & workshops offering thrifty advice, tips and tricks as well as innovative tasty food and drink.

Parking is £5 per car. Activities include tree top acrobats, cardboard costumes, live music, thrifty fashion shows, pop-up campervan restaurants and a chance to buy artworks and upcycled artefacts.

Stokesley Agricultural Show, Showfield off A172, Stokesley on Saturday

One of the biggest country shows in the region returns with a multitude of animal classes, daredevil motorcycle stunts and a host of agricultural attractions.

Organisers will hope that it can repeat the success of last year’s event which saw crowds in the region of 20,000 flock to the showfield.

This year marks the 145th annual event and animal enthusiasts can look forward to a packed day of classes covering everything from cattle to goats, sheep and horses, ferrets and poultry plus sheepdog trials and fancy dress.

A packed produce tent will also boast an array of locally-grown and hand baked goods including fruit, veg, preserves and wine.

Meanwhile, a major attraction in the main ring is sure to be the Jason Smyth Adrenalin Tour.

Starring former champion motocross rider - and now a leading stunt rider - Jason Smyth, the daredevil show includes everything from motorbike stunts to quad tricks with hair-raising freestyle jumps 30ft in the air. 

Another popular attraction promises to be the North Yorkshire Moors Birds of Prey team who return to the show to give their impressive falconry, owl and hawk display.

Admission to the show, at Stokesley Showground on Helmsley Road, is £12 for adults, £30 for a family of four.

It costs £8 for children aged five to 16 and under school age children are admitted for free.

The Festival of Ingenuity, Darlington Town Centre, on Saturday 

Lots of family friendly fun including street entertainers, dance performances, Punch and Judy, face painting and birds of prey display. Take part in a circus skills display, craft activities, theatre workshop and so much more.

StrEat Food and Family Fun Festival, Newby Hall, Ripon, on Friday-Sunday

THE destination food and fun festival for the family to discover, go on a global journey of discovery, combined with a quirky and diverse mix of fun, film, current acts and bands on the main stage, as well as eclectic entertainment and general mayhem for the whole family to experience – all set in the backdrop of Newby Hall grounds. 

All manner of vehicles from horseboxes and AirStreams to Citreon H Vans and Campervans will serve a selection of street food from some 60 traders from around the world. 

Visitors can expect an array of traders who will challenge the senses with a fusion of smells, tastes, sounds and food firsts – there’s something for every appetite. 

An Artisan Market will also feature some 30 producers with handpicked products for visitors to try, buy and take home. 

Europe’s largest outdoor cinema will keep movie buffs entertained with iconic and classic films, including a nostalgic 80’s night. The film feast includes Back to the Future, The Lost Boys, The Matrix, The Jungle Book and Jurassic Park with some surprise dino-tastic guests dropping by the main stage, so hold onto your popcorn! 

From good grub to glamping, camping to craft beer teepees and cocktail bars, as well as movies to music, bath tubs to bushcraft and much more – festival goers will experience an exciting energy and enthusiastic menu of food, fun and entertainment throughout this 3-day event. 

The StrEaters and Vintage Lawn Society will be on hand to entertain and amaze all day, the children can enjoy bushcraft survival skills and den building in the woods and can even cook up their own bug pancakes…if they really want too! 

Rule the World, Forum Theatre, Billingham on Saturday

Rule The World are a three-piece tribute show to Take That. The band, Dan Maines, Matt Hall and Gabriel Keogh are highly trained professionals who have been touring Europe for over eight years as a Take That tribute band, playing to audiences of 20,000 plus! 

One of their best moments as a band has to be when they appeared on BBC1’s The Graham Norton Show.
