THREE children were taken to hospital after a car crash – with one driver arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention.

A four-year-old girl, a six-year-old boy and a nine-year-old boy all received treatment as they travelled together in a Vauxhall Zafira driven by a 35-year-old man.

The little girl was kept in overnight for observation at Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital following the crash on West Street, prior to the junction with Hollywalk Avenue in Normanby, Middlesbrough.

The six-year-old boy was treated for bruising and swelling to his face while the nine-year-old boy was assisted with a cut to his head.

Cleveland Police released details of the incident this week in an appeal for witnesses of the crash at around 1pm on Friday, September 8.

The 35-year-old driver of the black Zafira has since been released under investigation.

A silver Kia Soul was also involved in the crash, with the 59-year-old driver treated for a hip injury at James Cook University Hospital.
