WALKERS and runners are being encouraged to join a theatre company as it brings to life a collection of stories in a County Durham forest next month.

Hamsterley Forest, near Bishop Auckland, will provide the stage for a promenade adventure with theatre company Burn The Curtain performing The Company of Wolves.

The performance is based on the collection of stories by author Angela Carter - with the audience being invited to join Red Riding Hood through the forest at night, and becoming part of the story.

Audience members can choose to be a hunter or a gatherer, fleet of foot or eagle eyed, to pick up the pace, or to tread carefully along the forest path.

Joining the actors along their journey, participants can either take part in a two to three mile walk or four to five mile run.

Participants are asked to wear suitable clothing and footwear and to bring a torch.

The Company of Wolves will be performed on October 12, 13 and 14, from 7pm each night.

Tickets cost £18 for adults and £15 for under 18s.

The performance is suitable for those aged eight and above when accompanied by an adult.

Tickets can be bought from the Forestry Commission box office by visiting forestry.gov.uk/forestry/BEEH-AQYJ9Q
