A TWO-DAY public consultation is set to take place to explore new ways of tackling anti-social beaviour at a Barnard Castle beauty spot.

Barnard Castle Town Council is looking for ideas for improving the management of cars driving onto the Demesnes from Thorngate via Gray Lane.

Residents expressed concerns a year ago about a instances of anti-social behaviour. As a result Durham Police and the Town Council have been in talks with Durham County Council to look at ways of improving it and protecting those people who visit the site on foot.

The Town Council is looking to take over the day-to-day management of the site and funding has been secured to do this. Some of this money may be used to help find a suitable solution to the anti-social behaviour.

The drop-in sessions will take place in the Dawson Room, Woodleigh on Saturday, between 11am and 3pm and on Monday, from 6pm until 8pm. There will be a chance to look at the scheme and also speak to representatives from the Town Council.

Durham Police will attend the second session.
