A TOWN has been looking extra bright and colourful this summer thanks to the introduction of 30 new planters.

Chilton Town Council was awarded more than £15,000 by the 4 Together Area Action Partnership and Durham County councillor Christine Potts earlier this year to spruce up the community.

Since then the town has been adorned with 30 new planters, four new litter bins and three picnic benches, located to the north of the cemetery. There are also plans to introduce four new seats at the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground, plus a further two at the cemetery.

Residents may also have noticed a three-tier planter located outside the new health centre. This was donated by Chilton West Residents’ Association.

Additionally, Chilton Town Council has set aside £2,000 to spend on Christmas lights, on the condition that the power source is located at Hutton House.

The council would like to thank everyone involved in the funding application.
