SHOW organisers are already turning their attention to next year after yet another successful event.

The 130th Bowes Agricultural Show, at Gilmonby, in Teesdale, had everything from horse and cattle classes to arts and crafts on offer throughout a very family friendly day on Saturday.

A few sharp showers failed to stop everything going ahead, including new for this year a parade of hounds by the Weardale and Tees Valley Beagles as well as a dog agility competition by members of Barnard Castle Dog Agility Club.

A steam traction engine was also a particular highlight amongst the 40 odd vintage tractors and restored farm carts on show.

Bowes Agricultural Society chairman Andrew Bracewell said: “It was excellent. We had a good turnout and even with the weather, which was a bit dramatic at times but didn’t spoil anything, all-in-all we had a good day.

“We had lots of entries, particularly in the cakes and people had a good time. Our numbers are certainly up on last year.

“We have the Presidents dinner to come next in February which will include the speeches and the awards but we are already looking forward to next year and starting to plan.”
