TWO balaclava-clad men have broken into a town supermarket for a third time in just over a week.

The Co-op store on Front Street, in Sedgefield, was struck again in the early hours when it is believed the burglars made off with bottles of spirits.

A spokesperson for Durham Police said the latest incident is understood to have taken place at around 1.15am yesterday.

The two men, wearing balaclavas, forced entry through the main door.

It is the third time the supermarket chain has fallen victim to a break-in by two balaclava-wearing men in nine days.

The first incident happened at around 11.45pm on Tuesday, August 29, and the second at 2am on Saturday, September 2.

On the first occasion, the suspects did not make off with anything, but on the second occasion a quantity of cigarettes were stolen.

The force spokesperson said it was believed a brown 52 plate Hyundai Getz might have been involved in the incidents.
