AN ANNUAL celebration of theatre will descend on Sedgefield for six days this month.
Sedgefield Drama Festival of One Act Plays returns to the town for the 41st time from Monday, September 11, until Saturday, September 16.
Groups will travel from Scarborough, Richmond, Nunthorpe and Durham to join the Sedgefield Players for the week-long contest.
Sedgefield Players Youth Section will open the festival with their production of Remote while the adult members will perform two plays during the event, held at Sedgefield Parish Hall.
Norma Neal, who organises the festival, said: “After a break last year, it is great to be back with such a great week of plays, and we are really looking forward to welcoming the groups and our adjudicator Paul Fowler, from the Guild of Adjudicators.”
With playwrights as diverse as Brecht, Checkov and Poe, organisers are promising a host of plays showcasing a range of themes and different styles of acting.
Plays will be performed from Monday through to Friday, with the final adjudication by Mr Fowler taking place on the Saturday.
Season tickets are £30 and nightly tickets are £7.
They are available from Tickety Boo, on High Street, Sedgefield, by calling 07763 257 846 or online at www.sedgefieldplayers.co.uk
