TOURISM businesses are being encouraged to get involved in a series of workshops with the aim of bringing more visitors to Richmondshire.

The district council is working with the Dales Tourism Network to create a destination and marketing action plan for the area.

The workshops are free and will take place in Hawes, Reeth, Richmond and Leyburn where a draft plan will be set out.

It is hoped accommodation providers, attractions, food and drink businesses and local shops will attend to share their views on the proposals, see how their businesses might benefit and network with similar businesses.

Susan Briggs, of the Tourism Network, said: “We want to make sure that anyone connected to tourism in Richmondshire has a genuine opportunity to contribute and benefit from this plan.We want to work together to develop tourism by looking at the visitor economy in its broadest sense.”

  • Workshops will take place on September 11 at the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes from 10.30am till 12.30pm and at Reeth Memorial Hall from 2 till 4pm.
  • On September 14, two more will be hosted at Thornborough Hall in Leyburn from 10.30am till 12.30pm and at Richmond Town Hall from 2pm till 4pm.
