ADVENTURE enthusiasts are being sought to sign up to take part in a gruelling North-East obstacle course.

Muddy Mayhem returns to Hardwick Park, near Sedgefield, County Durham, this autumn and would-be participants are getting their final call to enrol.

Durham County Council has confirmed the 10km challenge has already sold out but registration remains open for just a few weeks for the 5km course.

Ross Carrick, Durham County Council’s senior parks and countryside ranger, said: “We’ve been working hard to make sure this year’s course is bigger and better than ever.

“With new obstacles including ‘hung, drawn and watered’, anyone taking part is guaranteed to have their stamina and strength tested while having lots of fun.”

The 5km challenge includes more than 40 obstacles from cargo nets, tunnels, freezing open water and plenty of other muddy surprises.

Anyone over 16 years old with a reasonable level of fitness can register to take part.

The entry fee is £42, with a group discount available for groups of ten or more.

Registration closes on Friday, September 8.

The event takes place on Sunday, October 1.
