RACEGOERS will be dressed to thrill this weekend as Redcar lays out the red carpet for one of the most glamourous days in its calendar.

Fabulous prizes are up for grabs in the Ladies’ and Gents’ premier evening meeting at the seaside course on Saturday (August 26).

As well as seven races, there are three great competitions: Best Dressed Lady; Best Dressed Gent and Best Dressed Couple. Prizes will be donated by Market Cross Jewellers, Bakers Tailoring, Chic Hats and Orange Kerr Hair and Beauty.

Last year, the meeting attracted around 3,500 people and local Redcar couple Jarred and Gina Thomas walked away with the Best Dressed Couple title.

Anya Allison, of Stockton, was Best Dressed Lady and 17-year-old Zachary Green, of Middlesbrough, was Best Dressed Gent.

As well as the glittering prizes in the fashion stakes being a big attraction, a fun casino and photo-booth will add to the party atmosphere.

The first race is at 4.50pm and the last race is off at 7.55pm. Entry into the Grandstand enclosure is £16 or £13 for senior citizens. Entry into the Course enclosure is £6 or £5 for senior citizens.

Redcar’s general manager Amy Fair said: “This is a meeting which always inspires people to put on the style. And what’s been really clear in recent years is that the gents love to dress up just as much as the ladies.”
