WE ARE a romantic bunch up north – and are forever telling our nearest and dearest that we love them.

According to new research those who live in Yorkshire say “I love you” at least three times a day – or 90 times a month.

Those who live in the North-East region are also very open about their feelings – although they actually only manage to say the magic words about 46 times a month.

The research was carried out by VoucherCodesPro.co.uk as part of an ongoing study into Britons' relationships. Almost 2,500, aged 18 and over, were quizzed about their close-knit relationships and interactions with those around them.

And apparently the top reason for saying “I love you” is because they want people to feel loved in case they don’t get another chance to tell them.

Company spokesman George Charles said: “Everyone deals with their emotions differently; some scream it from the rooftops whilst others like to remain tight-lipped.

“Either way, as long as you show your loved ones that you do love and appreciate them, it doesn’t matter whether you say it once a month or one hundreds times a month.”

The region that topped the table was the south-west, with 95 "I love you" moments a month. Lovelorn Londoners manage just three.
