A FATHER has spoken of his disgust after capturing a festival-goer allegedly snorting an unknown substance in County Durham.

The dad-of-one, who wishes to remain anonymous, snapped the grey-bearded man dipping into a small bag and apparently inhaling white powder in plain sight at the family-friendly Hardwick Live at the weekend.

The video was taken on Saturday at the music festival in the grounds of Hardwick Hall Hotel, near Sedgefield, while onlookers waited for the Fun Loving Criminals to appear.

Speaking to The Northern Echo, the 35-year-old from County Durham, said: “I was shocked by that man and his behaviour. I’m sure he has a wife and kids or may have grand kids. I think it’s disgusting - in public and in front of kids.”

He claimed he alerted a steward who pointed him in the direction of police, but no further action was taken.

“I’ve got nothing against Hardwick Live,” said the man. “If I took my little one to it and saw that I’d be mortified.”

A spokesperson for Hardwick Live said: “Hardwick Live was a fantastically successful, family-friendly event and we certainly do not condone any kind of drug taking.

"We would absolutely have acted on this if we had been made aware. Our security team would know to take any alleged incident of this nature very seriously and the person would have been dealt with appropriately.

“There was a strong police presence at the event – including a sniffer dog – and again had they been alerted would have also taken action.”
