THREE generations of the same family were crowned winners at the return of a much-loved annual village show.
Hilary Heslop, started entering her baked goods at Gainford Village Show as a young girl with her late mother before she passed the tradition on to her own daughter, Sarah Heslop and granddaughter, Amy Heslop.
The trio each won a prize for their entries, Mrs Heslop won joint first for her cakes while her daughter won first and second prize for Best Cookery Exhibit and Amy, five, secured the top spot for Best Children’s Cookery in the Under 7s category and also wowed judges with her crafts.
Mrs Heslop, 62, said: “My mother used to do it ever since the show opened so I have been doing it a long time – at least 50 years.”
Show manager, Maura Kennan, said the entries this year had been very high. Adding: “It’s been a lovely show and the fact the sun has shone and lots of people are here to enjoy the show is fantastic.”
