A MAN arrested after shots were fired on a Teesside housing estate is due in court charged with drugs offences.

Police said they were taking no further action against the 20-year-old man in relation to an alleged offence of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

However following the discovery of a significant amount of what was suspected to be cocaine, cannabis and amphetamine at a property in Billingham, the man was charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply class B drugs and one count of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Police made a series of arrests after shots were fired at a car on Tuesday afternoon in Windlestone Road, Billingham and a second incident on Wednesday morning when a property on Hylton Road was similarly targeted.

The 20-year-old is due to appear today before Teesside magistrates.

A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, recklessly endangering life has been released with no further police action.

A 38-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice was also questioned, but will face no further action.

Meanwhile, a 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of production of Class B drugs has now been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
