TWO would-be rescuers had to be rescued themselves after going to the aid of a young girl who was stuck up a tree.
The 13-year-old girl was stuck after climbing about eight metres up a tree on Windsor Drive at Wigginton, York, shortly before 4pm on Saturday.
Two men out walking their dogs who heard her shouting for help and promptly climbed up the tree themselves in an effort to aid the youngster down.
However in the end all three found themselves needing assistance and firefighters from nearby Huntington were called to the scene.
The fire crew used a nine-metre ladder to rescue the girl and provided assistance to help the men get back to the ground.
