Shildon manager Danny Moore is hoping for a good draw in the first qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup after winning 5-1 at Guisborough on Saturday.

The Railwaymen scored three times in a matter of minutes soon after half time at the King George to put them well in command and looking forward to today’s lunchtime draw.

“We want a kind draw in the next round now, I don’t mind whether we’re at home or away if we can play as well as we did on Saturday,” said Moore.

“I thought that the game was one way traffic in our favour after they had a man sent off, and we were very good at the start of the second half – we scored some excellent goals.

“But before the next round, we have three very important league games.”

Guisborough shocked the Railwaymen by taking the lead after 4 minutes with a good goal by Stephen Roberts, but Shildon levelled almost immediately with a Kyle May header from a right wing cross.

Guisborough were then reduced to ten men when left back Dylan McAvoy was red carded for a foul on Dan Groves, but they kept Shildon level until the start of the second half when a quickfire blast destroyed them.

Micky Rae (2) and Adam Burnicle scored in the space of four minutes of the restart, then Anthony Peacock scored his first goal for the club on the hour to make it 5-1.

Newton Aycliffe though are out, beaten 2-1 away at Albion Sports in Yorkshire.

Aycliffe struggled against the wind in the first half, and they were two goals down before half time to efforts by Omar Habeeb and Danny Facey.

When Aycliffe had the wind advantage after half time, Matty Pennal struck the bar, and late in the game Andrew Grant-Soulsby pulled one back with a header.

Newton Aycliffe manager Deano Browne said; “The wind was a massive factor, we were poor in the first half and conceded two goals from individual mistakes. We gave ourselves too much to do in the second half.”

The draw will be made at lunchtime on Monday. Also through from the Northern League are Consett, Newcastle Benfield and Sunderland RCA, while Penrith and Whitley Bay must replay. Marske tackle Scarborough Athletic in a replay on Tuesday night, while South Shields are through from the EvoStik First Division North.
