A BROKEN down train has caused delays for dozens of rail services travelling along the East Coast Mainline.
The train blocked lines near Darlington railway station with CrossCountry, TransPennine Express and Virgin Trains East Coast services all affected by the incident.
National Rail confirmed that the train came to a halt at around 10.30am on Saturday morning with journeys travelling through York, Darlington, Durham and Newcastle all being disrupted.
The stricken train was moved from the mainline at around 10.50am.
Residual delays continued until after 11am.
