A TEAM of veteran cyclists have proved they still have plenty left in their legs when they raised £7,500 for charity.

The Rotary Club of Darlington tackled the 172 mile Coast and Castles North challenge in a few days.

With an average age of 64, the 12 cyclists set off from Aberdeen and finished in Edinburgh while taking in some spectacular scenery on the route.

The three-day challenge saw the team stopping overnight in Montrose and Glenrothes as they made their way from one end of Scotland to the other.

Rotarian Nigel Little, who helps organise the annual event, said: "We have raised more than £40,000 in five years and cycled 1,004 miles – nine more than we should have as we got lost on this challenge.

"On our journey we rode through some beautiful scenery and crossed both the Tay and Forth bridges."
