A RECYCLING centre serving Weardale will remain open until next spring.
Durham County Council’s mobile household waste recycling centre in Frosterley was set up in August 2014 on a trial basis for a year. This was extended to this August.
The facility, located next to the Sherburn Stone quarry entrance, off the A689, has become so popular with residents the council has now extended its operating dates to next April.
The mobile recycling centre, operated by the HW Martin group, will be open on alternate Saturdays from 9am until 12pm. However, during adverse weather the site will be closed.
Opening dates for this year are: September 9 and 23, October 7 and 21, November 4 and 18, and December 2, 16 and 30. Dates for 2018 will be announced later in the year.
Household items which can be taken to the facility include: domestic appliances, paper and books, cardboard, glass, textiles, clothes, shoes, scrap metal, household batteries, fridges and freezers, televisions and monitors, garden waste, wood and timber, plastics, carpet and non-recyclable waste.
